Background Informtion/ Información de antecedentes

Hello! My name is Courtney Fowlkes. I am a speech and language therapist. I have been teaching for 14 years and this is my fourth year here at West Bronx Academy. / ¡Hola! Mi nombre es Courtney Fowlkes. Soy terapeuta del habla y del lenguaje.  He estado enseñando durante 14 años y este es mi cuarto año aquí en West Bronx Academy.

Speech and language therapy is provided to students who have the services on their IEPs (Individual Education Plan) to help improve and increase expressive and receptive communication skills related to vocabulary skills, grammatical skills, comprehension, auditory processing, social language skills and much more. / La terapia del habla y el lenguaje se brinda a los estudiantes que tienen los servicios en sus IEP para ayudar a mejorar y aumentar el lenguaje expresivo y receptivo y las habilidades de comunicación relacionadas con las habilidades de vocabulario, habilidades gramaticales, comprensión, procesamiento auditivo, habilidades de lenguaje social y mucho más.

I grew up in New Jersey. I attended Montclair State University where I worked on my bachelor’s of science in Psychology. I later worked on my Masters for Speech and Language pathology. / Crecí en New Jersey. Asistí a la Universidad Estatal de Montclair, donde trabajé en mi licenciatura en psicología. Posteriormente trabajé en mi Maestría en Patología del Habla y el Lenguaje.

I live in Queens with my husband and three cats. I enjoy reading, running, and doing yoga exercise./Vivo en Queens con mi esposo y tres gatos. Disfruto leyendo, corriendo y haciendo ejercicios de yoga.
